Shawn Johnson retired from competitive gymnastics in June 2012 due to ACL issues in her left knee, missing the London Olympics. In 2012, she finished second on “Dancing with the Stars” with Derek Hough.

Andrew made his proposal to his girlfriend on July 24 of that same year (2015). After that, he asked Shawn to accompany him to a game with the Chicago Cubs and proposed.

The wedding took place on April 16, 2016, and guests enjoyed a lovely, intimate service that featured many candles and bouquets.

Even though the couple does not have much money (Shawn revealed to her followers that she and her husband have to cut back on almost everything), they appear to have a lot of joy in their relationship.

Retirement & Charity

Although Shawn Johnson participated in the competition and achieved success in 2011, in 2012, she decided to retire the following year. 

She claimed that she had to retire due to the ongoing knee problems she had experienced after undergoing ligament surgery.

Shawn Johnson has been active in several charitable causes and campaigns. 

In 2008, she organised a fundraiser to raise money for repairing homes damaged by floods. This campaign was one that she ran in collaboration with Ashton Kutcher.
