Who is Pamela’s ex-husband, Robert Blake?

Before acting in TV and cinema as an adolescent and adult, Robert Blake played the role of Mickey in the Our Gang series of short films.

He appeared in more than 70 movies in the 1940s and 1950s, and his lead performance in 1967’s In Cold Blood earned him critics’ praise.

For his part in the gritty cop drama Baretta from the 1970s, Blake later received an Emmy. Until 2002, when he was charged with killing his second wife, Bonny Lee Bakley, Blake’s media profile began to decline.

Despite being convicted responsible for her death in a civil trial, he was ultimately acquitted. Age 89, he passed away on March 9, 2023.

Robert Blake’s early life

According to some sources, Blake was born Michael James Gubitosi on September 18, 1933, in Nutley, New Jersey (in a 2011 interview, he said that he is unsure of his precise birthdate, thinking it to have occurred sometime in September or October).

Blake spent his early years performing with his family’s vaudeville show because his parents were vaudevillian.

He relocated to Hollywood, California, with his family when he was a little boy, where he worked as an extra for the MGM studios.

By the time he was 6 years old, he had already appeared in two short films from the Our Gang series (commonly known as The Little Rascals), Dad for a Day (1939) and Alfalfa’s Double (1940).

Blake reportedly endured physical violence from his father while growing up and was exposed to alcohol and cigarettes at a very young age.

Robert’s major work

Blake initially saw significant success as a young actor, portraying “Little Beaver” in the Red Ryder Western series. He was skilled, youthful, attractive, and intellectual. His performance won the crowd over.

He rose to fame by starring as the title character in the 1975–1978 American detective television series “Baretta.” In the program, he played Detective Anthony Vincenzo “Tony” Baretta.

Robert Blake’s kids and marriages

Blake wed the actress Sondra Kerry in 1964; the couple had two kids, Noah and Delinah, before divorcing in 1983. He married Bonny Lee Bakley in 2000, and the two had a daughter named Rose.

Murder of second wife and rial

Blake gained attention in May 2001 after his second wife, Bakley, was fatally shot when the couple waited in a car outside a restaurant after their meal.

He maintained his innocence throughout the subsequent inquiry, but the police eventually detained him and his bodyguard in connection with the killing after over a year had passed.

The charges that Bakley had a history of deception and that Blake had hired stunt performers to plan the killing led to a well-watched trial.

Additionally, Barbara Walters interviewed Blake, who declared his innocence in the clip played throughout the trial.

Eight months later, a jury in a civil lawsuit determined the actor was responsible for the murder and awarded Bakley’s children $30 million in compensation.

The damages awarded were reduced in half after Blake later contested the case. Around this time, the actor also announced his bankruptcy.

When did Robert Blake die?

Blake passed away at his Los Angeles home on March 9, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones. He was 89. He passed away from heart illness, his niece said in a statement.
