In 1983 the iconic country music legend George Jones tied the knot with Nancy Sepulvado, whom he affectionately referred to as the “love of his life.”
Nancy is a former American actress who gained fame for her three-decade-long marriage to George Jones, a true legend in the realm of country music.
George Jones’ union with Nancy Jones marked a pivotal moment in his life, as he had previously endured two unsuccessful marriages.
Who is Nancy Sepulvado?
Nancy Jones was an actress before she wed George Jones, and she was named Nancy Sepulvado. When she first met him in 1981, she had already gone through one divorce and marriage.
When Nancy married Jones in 1983, she quit her job in the telephone business. George Jones was in a free fall at that point in his life as his job and addiction were taking a toll on him.
“There were times when I regretted becoming involved in this. It completely shocked me. I used to feel that I could never straighten this man out.”
When asked about the challenges she had to overcome at the start of her relationship with the country music artist, Nancy remarked, “Then I’d say, ‘I can do it.”
Although she knew he could sometimes get physically hostile, she remained calm. In the end, Nancy Sepulvado helped Jones get his act together, resume his career, and care for everything from his finances to his tours.
Nancy Sepulvado bio
On April 6, 1959, Nancy Jones was born in the United States in New York, New York. No details are known about her parents, siblings, or early life.
Nancy Jones, also known as Nancy Sepulvado, received an honors degree from the Fashion Institute of New York City.
She created her first line of couture denim under Gettoe Momz and Gettoe Paz.
The popularity of Nacy Jones
Nancy Sepulvado once enjoyed considerable popularity, though perhaps not as much as she did a few years ago. Then why was she so well-liked?
Her marriage to George Jones contributed to her popularity. It was a time when she was quite well-known due to George Jones, her ex-husband, and his affairs.
There were worries that she wouldn’t make it through the marriage when George had already been divorced twice, but as it turned out, they remained together for thirty years till George Jones’ untimely death in 2013 stopped their union.
Nancy Jones’s net worth
It’s estimated that Nancy Sepulvado is worth $5 million. She had supported herself as an actor. Her husband’s wealth was more than $35 million.
She allegedly received $35 million for the intellectual property rights belonging to her spouse.
What happened to Nancy Jones?
Nancy Jones formerly resided at the home she and George Jones owned at 4025 Nestledown Drive in Franklin, Tennessee.
She reportedly sold the residence for $1.98 million in 2015, though. Although Nancy’s whereabouts are unknown, there is a strong chance that she still resides in Franklin.
Even though she and George Jones didn’t have any kids, they did have a dog named Bandit, who died in 2015.
Nancy’s first marriage produced two daughters. Now in her sixties, she preserves her late husband’s legacy while avoiding the media spotlight and spending time with her family.
After his passing, Nancy reportedly paid $30 million to Concord to purchase George Jones’s intellectual property.
In 2018, Peanutt Montgomery filed a lawsuit against her and the label for releasing an album that Jones and he had co-written and recorded but had not yet been published. Nancy Jones hasn’t made the news besides this minor altercation.
In remembrance of her late husband
In 2015, Nancy opened the George Jones Museum in Nashville’s downtown as a tribute to her husband.
She recalled the challenging periods she went through with him and claimed that although it was a “rollercoaster,” she believed God put her with him to help get the devil out of him.
Nancy said, “George was the sweetest man you could meet,” she remarked. However, when George would drink, a devil would jump inside of him.”
George alcohol addiction
George Jones battled alcoholism and drug addiction. At the beginning of his career, he had no problem with alcohol, but in the late 1960s, things changed for him.
At this point, alcohol hurt his two marriages and was beginning to have an impact on his professional life. He was known as “No Show Jones” because he frequently missed his concerts.
His financial situation began to suffer due to his addiction, and he declared bankruptcy in 1978.
He claimed to owe Wynette $36,000 in child support and more than $1 million in debt. He was living in his automobile and had significantly reduced his weight by 1979.
When Jones eventually did succeed in kicking the habit of using drugs and alcohol, he credited his fourth wife, Nancy Sepulveda, to whom he was wed until he died in 2013.
His health had begun to decline by 1983. He wound himself back in Hillcrest that year, but this time, the doctors warned him that if he didn’t change, he might not survive.
After a few decades of emotional ups and downs, Jones transformed his life and work.
He made up for the shows he had previously missed and repaired his relationships with those he had split with because of his reservations. He was entirely sober by the late 1990s and stayed that way.
Nancy supports George
In 2015, Nancy opened the George Jones Museum in Nashville’s downtown as a tribute to her husband.
George Jones once emphasized Nancy’s significance to him by claiming that he likely wouldn’t have survived if she hadn’t entered his life. “I had reached about the lowest point possible. I didn’t believe there was a way out, so if I hadn’t been lucky enough to have Nancy, I most likely would have perished, the country music star had revealed.”
Nancy and George Jones endured all of the ups and downs in their lives and went on to have a long, happy marriage.
