Who is John Wayne Gacy?

John Wayne Gacy was born in Chicago, Illinois, on March 17, 1942, and raised in his hometown by his parents.

He was born to John Stanley Gacy and was a single son to his parents. Gacy’s father was an auto repair machinist and World War I veteran, while his mother was a homemaker.

As John Wayne Gacy grew up, he indulged in many criminal and illegal activities.

He is considered one of the most prolific serial killers in the United States, having murdered and assaulted an estimated 33 young men and boys.

Gacy had done many jobs and pursued himself as an aspiring politician and contractor.

He is well known for dressing up in a clown costume to entertain children at events or parties. 

He was convicted for vulnerable victims and lured children to his home, and tricked them into a pair of handcuffs as part of a magic trick. 

Some of his victims’ bodies were buried in the stack in the crawl space of his home and while others were hidden in the Des Plaines River. 

However, five of John Wayne Gacy’s victims have never been recognized till now.

When Was John Wayne Gacy Found Guilty?

John Wayne Gacy was accused of his crimes and found guilty, and sentenced to death in 1980 by lethal injection. 

When he was serving his time in a detention center, he started painting and painted his thoughts and numerous other things; he also self-portrait himself in a clown costume.

His clown costume painting was bought by Ghost Adventures host Zak Bagans in 2020.

Gacy was prosecuted for his illegal crimes by lethal injection in 1994 at Stateville Correctional Center in Illinois.

John Gacy was under observation when he was accused of missing victims.

When Robert Piest went missing, who was Fifteen-year-old, while leaving home, he told his mother that he was visiting Gacy to investigate a contractor job opportunity. 

When he did not come to school, his mother reported this to the police, and after that, Gacy’s home was investigated. 

During the investigation, the police found the receipt that pointed to Piest being at the property, and after that receipt, Gacy was placed under police surveillance.

During Gacy’s Surveillance under police supervision, he was seen handling marijuana, and for this, he was arrested.

However, Gacy admitted his crimes after the investigation by police for a second time, and they found bones in the crawl space.

After decades a Netflix series was created named John Wayne Gacy Documentary, and the series will reveal unheard taped conversations of John Wayne Gacy and his legal team.

When the series creator was asked on Entertainment Weekly; how they found access to the tapes, then director Joe Berlinger said: “Someone from the original legal team reached out and said that these tapes were available, but they asked for their anonymity.”

The documentary has never seen footage of police officers excavating the crawl space. 

Joe Berlinger said to Entertainment Weekly:Their excavation footage has never been seen before, and that’s truly horrifying material. We debated how much of that excavation footage [but] we felt enough of it had to go in to make people realize the horror of what was going down.”
